A painter, traveler, and a designer, Isha Dhingra launched her label Aikeyah in 2012. Translating to ‘one’s own identity’ in Sanskrit, Aikeyah was inspired by Isha’s own experiences. Pushing boundaries from a young age, Isha’s journey in the fashion industry began when she was just nineteen. Refraining from training under a design house or pursuing a formal education in design, Isha taught herself the intricacies of the craft and industry instead. Her authentic and raw aesthetic has given the brand a unique voice. Isha defines the label as symbolising “understated glamour and elegance,” and she brings this sensibility to both her lines, luxe-pret and couture. With traces of history, literature, travel, and art, Aikeyah creations go beyond the traditional paradigms of fashion and can be akin to pieces of art.

Isha launched Aikeyah at the Ensemble Kalaghoda store in 2017 to veritable success. Today, Aikeyah has a strong presence across all the Ensemble stores. Notably, the Ensemble Kalaghoda and Emporio store have a permanent space allocated for both the pret as well as couture collections. With their unique cuts, embroidery, colours, silhouettes, Aikeyah garments are an experience, reflecting the wearer’s style, mood, and personality.

Using unconventional beauties as her muse, Aikeyah is a brand aimed at breaking stereotypes and conventions. Similarly, Isha’s designs continuously push the fashion curve. Aikeyah pret has a range of contemporary indo-western silhouettes. The collection features the following styles - asymmetrical tunics with cowl necks or beaded collars, kaftans, kurta dhoti sets with attached drapes and jackets. Whether it is a work meeting, a brunch or an informal mehendi function, these styles can be worn for a host of occasions from everyday appointments to light festivities.

Aikeyah couture can be broadly divided into two categories: bridal and bridal trousseau. The bridal trousseau collection includes drape saris, jacket sets, cape sets, gowns, kurtas and kimonos. Exuding old world glamour and charm, these pieces have an avant-garde sensibility and are a must have for someone who favours making understated but sartorial choices. An Aikeyah asymmetrical ombre thread work jacket and dhoti set with silver glass beadwork is a great choice for a mehendi or sangeet function. An ivory fully embroidered resham jaal blouse paired with an organza sari embroidered with floral applique will make you look your ethereal best and effortlessly stylish.

The lighter couture collection also includes a range of versatile bridge pieces that can be dressed up or down according to the requirement of the occasion. As seen in her 2019 genda phool collection, Aikeyah’s bridal line is the boho-chic bride’s dream. The collection featured bright ankle length cotton-chanderi lehengas with stripes of gota embroidery, styled with metallic aari or resham jaal blouses, perfect for an offbeat bride to wear to her mehendi or wedding or for a close family member. Her bead embellished draped or tiered gowns are elegant statement choices for a cocktail or black tie event.
